The Evangelism Board leads the congregation in bringing the Gospel to the un-churched, enlisting all of God's people in the work of spreading the Gospel and deepens the faith and activity of the members of Advent Lutheran Church.

ALPHA - Via De Cristo - Care Groups

What is the Via de Cristo?
The Via de Cristo is a three-day weekend designed to strengthen and renew the faith of Christian people, and through them, their families, congregations and the environment in which they live, work and play. It is a combined effort of laity and clergy working together to bring renewal to the Church. The next men’s weekend will be October 30-November 2, and the women’s weekend will be November 6-9. For more information visit www.snvdc.org or contact the Church office. The weekend is worth your time and prayers, so please prayfully consider attending a Via de Cristo weekend.

Care Group Ministries
What is our ministry and what can we do? Care Group Ministry, a part of the Evangelism Board, is a valuable and essential witnessing to all members of Advent. Our members are placed in 22 geographical areas and each group has a leader.
Our mission is to provide communication and concern in order to develop a strong community of believers. A leader contacts each family in their area every three months by letter, phone call, or in person. Concerns cover any needs during illness or death in a family and recognition of special events such as baptisms, confirmation or other event.
As a leader gets to know their individual families, a community begins to build. A gathering of at least once a year gives each family an opportunity to know and to serve each other. Leaders are not alone in the process. There are yearly meetings to provide training and sharing ideas to further our mission.
Jesus has sent us to care and share. Will you join us as a leader, a leader’s assistant, helper or a caller? Please call the church office.

Name Tags Become De rigueur Don’t forget to plan to wear your name tag every Sunday now! The board will be in the breezeway. Please try to put your name tag back after you are through socializing in the fellowship hall too. If changes need to be made to your name or someone is missing a tag, please just write it down and leave it with an usher and we will make you a new one or  correct  yours. Thanks and have fun getting to know everyone!

Social Ministry Board Promotes Involvement In Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida One of the newest and most innovative mentoring concepts associated with Big Brothers Big Sisters is the Children of Promise.  We ask caring adults to serve as mentors to children who have at least one parent incarcerated.  Big Brothers Big Sisters has been providing children from single-parent homes with trusted adult mentors since 1904.  The local agency has been in existence since 1915.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida takes pride in the fact that there have been thousands of children positively influenced from having a mentor in their lives. We take the welfare of the children very seriously and do extensive screening and background checks on every potential volunteer before they are accepted into the program.  If additional information is required, please contact the Fleming Island office at 904/673-6829. Thank You, The Social Ministry Board

Care Group States Mission Advent Care Groups, which are part of our Evangelism Board, is a ministry for all the members of the congregation. The care leader’s mission for each geographical area is to provide communication, concern and care  to help build and draw together a community of believers.

Your care leader will be calling or writing to introduce himself/ herself, if he/she hasn’t already.

Please be receptive to them as this is their ministry for you and your family. Feel free to call on them as needed. We will continue to strive to serve and encourage one another  in our family of faith.
