A STEWARDSHIP
NOTE
How is Your Walk with Jesus? While some of us might welcome a period of solitude, the feeling would soon become intolerable. The isolation would lead to insecurity, then anxiety, paranoia, and insanity. Do you hear voices? (40 seconds—listen for the voices). God did not create us to be solitary creatures. As a child of God, He has placed us in a family with many brothers and sisters, all children of God. In faith, we are never alone. We walk with Jesus. He walks with us, so long as we are open to Him. As we walk through this life with Jesus, He asks us to be stewards in His vineyard. He expects us to tend to his resources, and lead others to him. Advent’s annual Time & Talent Survey is in progress, and it is a great opportunity for you in several ways: • Provide much-needed help to the Church • Overcome boredom and stagnation • Make new friends Do you like to cook or sew? Can you fix a sprinkler, or paint? Do you enjoy working with children, arts & crafts, organizing events, or just talking with someone new? Do you have administrative, teaching, business, or musical talent? How is God calling you? No matter what your skills and interests are, your talents are needed and welcomed! Whether you are bored to death or don’t seem to have enough hours in the day, we can offer you a change of pace and a new perspective. (20 seconds—ACT). Now is the time to reach for the Time & Talent survey and decide how you are going to broaden your Walk With Jesus. If you are already contributing your time & talent in three or more areas, your assignment is to reach out and involve someone new in your activities. Share the fun and fellowship…ACT NOW! AT WHAT COST? Many of us will benefit from the tax cuts recently enacted by the Florida Legislature. We have already heard from municipalities and school districts what this will cost them. Among the unintended consequences is the cost to helping agencies in our area. Many will be affected by the loss of state and local grants. But this loss will also affect federal grants because many are based on local and state funds. Lutheran Social Services relies on 69.2% of their funds coming from Federal, State and Local grants. Only 0.6% of their funding comes from church funds. Please pray for these organizations as they seek ways to continue to serve those less fortunate.
The mission of Advent’s Stewardship Board is: To provide leadership and encouragement to promote maximum congregational use of time, talent, and treasure, in extending God’s kingdom on earth.
The Stewardship Board’s vision is: To educate the congregation on ALL aspects of what stewardship is and how their time, talents, and treasures are vital to fulfill the mission of Advent Lutheran Church.
