AT WHAT COST? Many of us will benefit from the tax cuts recently enacted by the Florida Legislature. We have already heard from municipalities and school districts what this will cost them. Among the unintended consequences is the cost to helping agencies in our area. Many will be affected by the loss of state and local grants. But this loss will also affect federal grants because many are based on local and state funds. Lutheran Social Services relies on 69.2% of their funds coming from Federal, State and Local grants. Only 0.6% of their funding comes from church funds. Please pray for these organizations as they seek ways to continue to serve those less fortunate.
