Worship
Board Releases Survey Results
The Worship Board extends its thanks to everyone who took the
time to complete the survey about our music program and the placement of the
choir in the sanctuary. We received 49 responses which represent a significant
reply based on our average attendance of 300 people or about 150 families.
Almost everyone agreed that music is an important part of worship at Advent. We
also asked members to share their preference for the placement of the choir. The
responses were as follows:
1. 26% preferred the choir on raised platforms behind the altar.
2. 7% preferred the choir to the front left of the sanctuary.
3. 8% preferred the choir to the front right of the sanctuary.
4. 36% preferred the choir in the back of the sanctuary.
5. 23% did not make a selection.
As a result of your input, the Worship Board plans to determine the feasibility
of positioning the choir on platforms at the rear of the sanctuary and still
accommodate space for our hand bell choir. The Board has submitted a request to
the Property Board to investigate the cost of such a project and whether or not
it could be accomplished with volunteer help in terms of both labor and dollars.
Once again, we thank those members who took the time to help your Worship Board
advance the achievement and progress of Advent’s music program.

Need New
Nametag? -
If you have any changes or issues with your nametag please give a
note to either a greeter or usher and they will get it to the Evangelism
Committee so a new one can be made. If anyone does not have a nametag or has
lost theirs, let us know and we can make a replacement tag for you.
Web Sites for the Journey
- We continue to search for Web sites that will be of help to
you in your faith journey. This address links to part of the ELCA site where
there are many great articles on history and tradition in the Lutheran church

Bring A Friend -
Our presiding bishop of the ELCA, Mark Hansen,
once commented that we as Lutherans are, “a welcoming church, but not an
inviting church.” Witnessing has never been a strong part of our church’s
tradition. But maybe we make it harder than it is. The model for witnessing
comes from John 1:40-42 when Andrew goes and finds his brother Simon and says,
“We have found the Christ.” and brings him to Jesus. The core of any evangelism
is people inviting other people to come and see what they have found. Have you
invited anybody to come with you?
