                                    MINISTRY WITH YOUTH NEWS

PB&J
(The News Spread For Youth)
Attention all youth and parents! PB&J is underway! Yes it does include peanut butter and jelly but if you don’t like jelly you can bring your own health food. Among the recent delicious combinations brought up were – bananas, potato chips and pickles. So bring your own palatable additive or be traditional. Remember every Sunday at 6:30 pm in the Youth Room. (Follow the bread crumbs) We also have the following plans working for other events:

October 3rd – Youthquake Live at Celebration Church on Deerwood. We will be carpooling and will leave at about 6:30. Parents invited. (You actually get to sit in another room away from the noise and have some coffee while you watch the youth on large screen tv’s.

October 11th – Heritage Day – We need your help with the games. Jason is directing this part as well as the puppeteers. Setting up the air filled trampoline, as well as taking tickets are just a few of the things we need help with.

October 23rd – Christian Music night at Skate Station. Skating starts at 7 pm. We will meet at 6:30 outside the rink. All youth of all ages are invited. However, youth that are 5th grade or under will need to be accompanied by a parent. With 10 or more the cost should be between $3 and $3.50.

November 1st – Seniors Only – Murray Hill Theater – Comic Book Heroes and Villains Dance! Costume optional. NO risque or anime allowed.

Luther Springs Announces Youth Retreats
Discoverers Weekend Oct 24-26: This program is for the elementary age youth. They do not have to be former campers at Luther Springs. Any and all are welcome! Campers spend the day swimming, canoeing, hiking and learning about their faith through Bible study and reflection. Small cabin groups ensure a personal and memorable camp experience. Completed Grades 3-6. Cost $125 – Youth Participant/$85 – Adult Chaperone. God’s Spa for Girls Feb 6-8, 2009: This weekend retreat for middle school aged girls is a time for friends, fun, and facials! Come together and enjoy time away from school, cell phones, homework, and boys. Meet new friends and treat yourself like the princess you know you are. Weekend activities may include: lots of pampering, devotions, and several spa-type activities such as facials, hand/foot scrubs, hair styling and skin care. Recreational time will be spent playing games, enjoying the sun, hiking, canoeing or paddle boating. Devotional time will be spent learning and deepening your faith. Meals will offer a variety of healthy choices. We will conclude the weekend with Sunday morning worship and a light brunch. Other retreat dates for ’09 include a January 19-23 Quilting Retreat Week, and a March 13-15 River Rat Ramble – day trip. For more information on these and other activities visit info@lomfla.org.

Like Children? Advent’s parents of infants and toddlers are in need of childcare during Sunday School hour 9 to 10:15. Please contact the church office or Ron White at 777-5785 if you are interested in this ministry. Advent offers a Nursery during the 10:30 service and we are in need of volunteers to take turns to care for infants and toddlers while their parents attend worship. Please contact the church office or Dawn Marnell at 987-9422 to volunteer.
